The McFarland Chamber of Commerce hosts a dinner party annually in the month of January. This Annual
Meeting has become a sort of Post-Holiday Party for chamber members, employees and their guests. The
evening generally consists of a social prior to a short business meeting which includes introduction of the
new chamber president, officers and directors. A sit-down dinner follows and the evening concludes with
the Chamber’s annual auction to raise funds for the coming year’s events and activities.

The 1st Annual FIRECRACKER 5000 5K Run/Walk sponsored by the McFarland Chamber of Commerce
debuted Saturday, July 2, 2005. The event began as a way to help increase awareness of the businesses and
services available in McFarland by drawing people into the community. Proceeds from the run were used
to launch a new Chamber program called MCOC Backpacks for Kids, as well as helping fund future
Chamber of Commerce activities. MCOC Backpacks for Kids continues to help provide school supplies to
children of families in need within the McFarland School District
Since 2005, the McFarland Chamber of Commerce FIRECRACKER 5000 has evolved into a family
fun/community activity. Proceeds from the run now support not only MCOC Backpacks for Kids and
Chamber activities, but also the McFarland School District’s Early Childhood Developmental Screening
Days and the McFarland Chamber of Commerce Scholarship awarded annually to a graduating McFarland
High School Senior.
The FIRECRACKER 5000 takes place annually at 8:00am the Saturday before July 4th. It begins and ends
in front of the McFarland Chamber of Commerce office in the McFarland Centre on Farwell
