The WASC is a state-wide organization of public, private, and parochial elementary, middle, junior and senior high school student councils and/or student leadership groups dedicated to the continuation and expansion of leadership development and student responsibilities in Wisconsin. It is sponsored by the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA) and affiliated with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP/NASC). The WASC boasts a legacy of leadership that spans generations and is an organization that touches the heart of so many students & adults in such profound ways. On a personal note, I and both my "young adult" children have participated in WASC activities & summer camps for many years and have benefited in authentic & wonderful ways. Former McFarland Superintendent, Scott Brown, joined the WASC administrative team and hasn't stopped smiling yet. Throughout the year, the WASC sponsors several leadership development opportunities that culminates in a state-wide conference (one for middle schoolers & one for high schoolers). The middle school state conference will see 1000 students and advisors from all across Wisconsin converge at the Madison Marriott West on May 7-8, 2017 and McFarland's own Indian Mound Middle School Student Council will be planning and facilitating the whole event.
